Pretoria is an unincorporated community located in Dougherty County in the US state of Georgia.[1]

Pretoria's latitude is at 31.504 and its longitude is at -84.317. It's elevation rests at 187 feet. Pretoria appears on the Pretoria U.S. Geological Survey Map.n It rests on the intersections of Tarva Road, Eight Mile Road, and Georgia Highway 62 (Leary Road). Old Pretoria Road, Lonesome Road, Coakly Avenue, Aristedes Road, Slade Avenue, Legget Drive, Vanderbilt Drive and Bluebird Lane also rest in the area. Hunter Lake is the area's largest body of water and the Cooleewahee Creek runs through the town. There are signs welcoming one into the community as well as a 'Dougherty County Work Ready Community Sign'.[1]
Pretoria supports Walden Springs Missionary Baptist Church, The Tabernacle of Faith, and Second Mount Zion Baptist Church. Abandoned churches include a church building on Tarva Road, and New Zion Hill Church. New Zion Hill Church rests on Georgia Highway 62 also called the Leary Highway.[1]
As of 2011 Pretoria is a small, yet thriving unincorporated community. Residents are of various races and employment.[1]
Pretoria has one school called Sherwood Christian Academy. This school is a private school which teaches grades 6-12. The lower campus is located in Albany, Georgia. Sherwood owns legacy park, a large sports complex most notable for its large cross. Sherwood Christian Academy is affiliated with Sherwood Baptist Church of Albany, Georgia, which is well known for its productions Facing the Giants and Fireproof.[1]
Pretoria is home to a community center, as well as many small stores. Abbot's Service Station is the only working filling station while Pretoria Station, Country Corner Station, and The Pretoria General Store are defunct. Pretoria also has a catfish pond which one can fish for $1.00, a deer processing shop, and a realty office. Pippin's Pecan's offers a small tourist store. Pretoria also has beautiful abandoned buildings and barns.[1]
Holly Hill Plantation, Tarva (Tarver) Plantation, and Nilo Plantation are all working plantations in the community.[1]
